Tony Okocha, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, has clarified that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike is not a member of the party.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Okocha stated, “Wike has never expressed a desire to join the APC. He remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
Okocha emphasised that Wike is not his opponent, asserting that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu “renewed hope” initiative that brings him and Wike together is a philosophical movement rather than a political party.
“In Rivers State, I represent 002 for the renewed hope agenda, while Wike is 001. We collaborate to achieve our common interests,” he added.
He also criticised the judicial commission established by Governor Siminalayi Fubara to investigate the recent arson at several Local Government Area (LGA) secretariats, stating, “The inquiry is not comprehensive, as it excludes the APC Secretariat, which was also targeted.”
He urged for a more thorough investigation, remarking on the governor’s comments regarding knowing the perpetrators, saying, “We need a complete overview of these events to ensure justice is served.”
