Kidnappers kill boy after demanding N2m ransom

It was further gathered that the boy, Aliyu Aminu, was kidnapped while he was returning from an Islamic school in Naibawa Quarters of Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State on Tuesday around 7.30pm.
Residents told our correspondent that one of the kidnappers wore the uniform of the Islamic school the boy attended in order to deceive him.
“A member of the gang who was wearing the uniform of the Islamic school approached the boy when the school closed for the day, pretending to be a student. That was how they were able to take him away,” a source said.
He added that after the kidnap, the gang established contact with the boy’s father and demanded a ransom of N2 million.
Our correspondent further gathered that the boy’s father, who is a business man, paid the amount into the account given to him by the abductors.
“But when the money was paid, the kid-napers could not withdraw it because the account into which it was paid had been frozen. Angered by the development, the kidnappers killed the boy and dumped his corpse in an uncompleted building on Wednesday,” the source said.
Spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, ASP Magaji Musa Majia, confirmed the incident, but denied that N2 million ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
“When the case was reported to the police, our men swung into action but unfortunately they killed the boy, put him in a sack and dumped his body in a village in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state,” he said.
He said investigation into the matter is on-going.
