Revived SDP accuses PDP, APC of same corrupt tendencies

The party also frowned at the recurrent bloodbath in the northeastern part of the country and called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to nip the situation in the bud.
Speaking at the unveiling of the SDP manifesto, logo and constitution at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, the national chairman of the party, Chief Olu Falae, said the diversion of public funds into private pockets on a daily basis has thwarted the country’s infrastructural, socio-economic and political development at all levels.
“It is clear that the so-called ruling or major parties cannot do much about corruption because they are the beneficiaries of the massive misappropriation of our common wealth. The SDP now offers itself to Nigeria as the platform of hope and integrity with zero tolerance for corruption.
“While corruption is dishonesty in the economic or financial spheres, election rigging, imposition of candidates, changing of party affiliations on a daily basis represents corruption in the political domain. Such political somersaulting and looting of treasury are two sides of the same coin of political and moral bankruptcy in both the leadership and followership of the two ruling parties,” he said.
Falae said the so-called heavy weight political leaders have lost credibility and respect for deeply involving themselves in serious financial corruption and other corrupt tendencies in the polity, stressing that members of the public are now cynical about politics.
He stated that corruption has become the single most devastating evil facing Nigeria and blamed the present insecurity, unemployment, poverty, unsatisfactory telecommunication services, poor roads  construction, abandonment of contracts and poor infrastructural deficit in the country on corruption.
The former presidential aspirant said Nigerians should no longer tolerate the barbaric evil where Boko Haram insurgents have continued to perpetrate in the northern part of the country, stressing that the federal government should as a matter of urgency, mobilise the resources at its disposal to put an end to the killings of innocent Nigerians.
Responding to questions from Journalists at the end of the occasion, Falae said the party would participate in all the elections coming up in 2015, noting that the party’s presidential candidate would be nominated at the appropriate time.
