Al-Makura’s opponents benefitted from past rot — Azores

Azores, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), told our reporter at the weekend that the governor has adopted what he called “ambush syndrome” against those posing as his critics.
“Today, the Nasarawa people feel like they are the governors themselves, as against the previous situation where they were only spectators in a game which was supposed to be theirs – a game of development.
“Our people should ask these new found democrats and opposition elements what role they played in the past when the entire Nasarawa was cheated through theft of public resources and lack of vision,” he said.
He said Al-Makura should be judged by his election campaign promises of providing dividends of democracy to the people and improving the socio-economic development of the state.
He alleged that when the present governor took over the mantle of leadership in the state, there was a debt burden of over N30 billion but later it was discovered that more debt was hidden.
