The Federal Government pf Nigeria has assured citizens of the safety of lives and property during the 2015 general elections slated for February.
Minister of Interior, Abba Moro gave this assurance on Thursday while speaking with journalists in Abuja on the readiness of the federal government to secure lives and property of citizens before, during and after the elections.
He maintained that security apparatus have already been put in place to ensure hitch-free elections.
Some Nigerians from the southern part of the country have been relocating to their states ahead of the polls as a result of fears of crisis after the elections.
“It is necessary to address the panic by some Nigerians and to let them know that the government is prepared and ready to provide adequate security for Nigerians to exercise their franchise.
“In spite of the anxiety, Nigerians have no cost to fear. The anxiety as to whether peace will prevail is unwarranted. Nigerians should be law abiding and conduct themselves peacefully. Elections and leaders will come and go but the country will remain. It is a day of love and all of us should show that love,” the Minister noted.
