The suspended former chairman of the House of Representatives appropriation committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has alleged that the act of sealing of his office by the management of the National Assembly was an attempt to cart away and destroy documents related to the 2016 budget.
Jibrin was suspended for one year on Wednesday following what the House said was a breach of lawmakers’ privileges. Consequently, the National Assembly management sealed off his office on Thursday.
But Jibrin said in a statement yesterday that “The office was purportedly sealed as a consequence of my illegal suspension but the truth was to enable the Speaker lay hands and destroy evidence.”
