Members of the Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH) Alumni Association have asked people who have illegally taken possession of the university’s lands to immediately vacate them or face prosecution.
National president of the association, Mr. Eyam Abeng, said at the end of an annual get-together in Calabar that the union alongside the management would recover lands taken illegally and prosecute those involved.
Recently, staff and students of the university embarked on public protest over the encroachment of their land by the host community.
Abeng said the situation where people illegally grab the university’s land was "shocking and embarrassing" and called on the state government to urgently intervene.
