The Nigerian Medical Association, FCT chapter, has urged the National Assembly to help address doctors’ welfare.
Dr Emeka Ayogu, chairman of the chapter, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the deputy chairman of the House Committee on Health and Social Welfare, Dr Adesola Adedayo.

He said inadequate welfare packages was one of the key reasons doctors were migrating, a phenomenon popularly known as Japa syndrome, in search of better opportunities abroad.

Ayogu explained that doctors were leaving the country in large numbers due to poor working conditions, which was why the association is seeking the National Assembly’s attention.
