Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has expressed commitment to foster a robust relationship with the media in order to advance the state’s development.
Gov Alia made the pledge during a one-day workshop on economic reporting organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council, in collaboration with the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC).
Represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor expressed appreciation for the media’s role in his administration’s achievements over the past one year.
He assured continued support and collaboration with the media to ensure a conducive environment for their operations, stressing the need for the media to publish facts to properly inform the public.

Alia who presented a paper on the importance of trust and transparency in government-media relations, urged journalists to avoid sensationalism and emphasised that accurate and timely reporting fostered a positive relationship.
