The youths of Ezinihitte Mbaise in Imo State have called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to intervene in the suspension of Henry Agbasonu (representing Ezinihitte Mbaise) by the Imo State House of Assembly.
Agbasonu, alongside three lawmakers were suspended indefinitely for allegedly plotting to impeach the speaker, Chike Olemgbe.
The speaker, who made this known during a plenary last Tuesday, alleged that the four lawmakers brought disrepute and ridicule to the House by their actions.
According to the speaker Olemgbe, the four lawmakers incited other members against his leadership for no just reason. He said the decision to suspend them was taken after an executive session.
The youths, in a letter addressed to governor Uzodimma by Comr Franklin Ogbonna, APC LGA youth leader, called for Agbasonu’s reinstatement.
The letter titled, ‘Request for Intervention to cause the Reinstatement of Honorable Member Representing the good people of Ezinihitte Mbaise in Imo State House of Assembly’, read in part: “I am writing on behalf of youths of Ezinihitte Mbaise Local government Area to appeal to you as the father of the state to consider resolving the impasse between the assembly leadership and the Honorable member representing our dear constituency.
“Your intervention will not only create united front for our dear party but will also ensure that our people are duly represented.
“Hon Dr. Henry Agbasonu is a loyal party man who has shown dedication in his support for your government. Since his emergence has the member representing Ezinihitte has brought peace in the party and has promoted security in the LGA.
“Our people can attest to his free medical outreach and educational support grants to many, including free distribution of Jamb/Waec forms to many young people in line with 3R agenda.
“His impressive performance speaks volumes even in the rehabilitation of our local roads, as well as facilitating the job visa for young Ezinihitte Mbaise youths who has traveled outside the country just as an apostle of your shared prosperity government.
“The good people of Ezinihitte Mbaise and I believe that Dr. Henry Agbasonu has been unfairly treated and that his reinstatement is essential for the constituency’s continued progress. His achievements and dedication to the community are undeniable, and his absence has left a significant void in the representation of our constituency.”
The youths urged the governor to use his office to:
“To prevail on the Assembly leadership to follow the spirit of brotherhood in investigation of allegations against Hon. Henry Agbasonu and verify the truth.
“Consider his reinstatement based on unbiased findings. Use your powers to ensure justice and fair play in this matter.”
