The Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Maifata Aminu Mu’azu, has been elected president of the Association of Local Government Nigeria (ALGON).

Until his election, he was the deputy president of the association. He also at different times served as the national treasurer of the body.

He had earlier also served as Special Adviser on Solid Mineral Development to former Nasarawa State governor, Tanko Al- Makura between  2017 and 2018.

Reacting to his emergence, Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, expressed optimism that his emergence will spur development at the third tier of government in the country.

In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Addra, the governor described Mua’zu’s emergence as the national president as a classic case of “whom the cap fits.”
