The police in Gwarinpa have arrested 35 people for allegedly constituting public nuisance in an estate under construction.
A police source said the suspects were illegal occupants in the uncompleted buildings in the estate.
The source added that officers from neighbouring divisions joined in the raid on the black spot on Saturday at about 3:35a.m.
The source said the raid was carried out after people living in the area complained about the activities of the illegal occupants especially their unknown source of livelihood.
The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the illegal occupants had changed the name of the estate from NIMASA to Jahannnama (hell fire) estate.
He said some of the people lived with their families inside the estate when they were arrested.
“We arrested only the men, the women and children are still there. We are interrogating them and anybody that can’t give us satisfactory information would be prosecuted,” he said.
