Veteran global businessman and philanthropist, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Njoku, has underscored Africa’s approach to the Ukraine Conflict, during an enlightening speech at a meeting of the Universal Peace Federation, held in London, July 18, 2023.

Focusing on the theme: “Perspectives of the Global South”, Ambassador Njoku said that the protracted crisis that emerged in 2014, has captured international attention and elicited diverse responses from nations around the world. However, Africa’s stance on this issue has been relatively reserved, with limited direct involvement.

He explained that Africa’s limited support for the West in the Ukraine conflict can be attributed to a combination of historical contexts, regional priorities, diplomatic considerations, and a preference for multilateral engagement.

“As the continent strives to address internal challenges and pursue its own developmental goals, it carefully navigates complex political dynamics to ensure stability and promote mutually beneficial relationships.

“Understanding Africa’s perspective on the Ukraine conflict requires acknowledging these factors and recognizing the diversity of approaches among African nations”, he said.

Amb. Njoku has been lending his voice around the world delivering keynote speeches in conferences on the state of affairs of the world, and solutions to impending global challenges.

Only a few days earlier, he was honored at the 13th African Achievers’ Awards held at the Palace of Westminister, House of Lords, London, UK where he joined a host of other African and global personalities and dignitaries for the esteemed award ceremony and summit.

The AAA, which served as a platform for industry leaders in Africa to converge, and talk about strategies towards development sustainability in the African continent, focused on the theme: “Unlocking Sustainable Trade and Investment Opportunities in Africa – the PPP Approach”.

Dr. Njoku is also a strong advocate for education and primary health care as critical factors that would facilitate inclusive and sustainable development of the country.

Established in July 2012, his Emma Njoku Foundation has left indelible imprints on the minds and hearts of many individuals and organisations.

Recognition for his contribution towards human capital empowerment, infrastructural development, humanitarian support and improved mental health, in large part, inspired his award at the House of Lords in London.

The African Achievers’ Awards has honoured and celebrated great African trailblazers whose works have had a meaningful impact on development in Africa. Created in 2010, the African Achievers Awards has become one of the most reputable awarding bodies on the African continent and one of the biggest annual gatherings of influential African achievers globally.
