An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sentenced two robbers, Makinde Kola and Bika Haruna, to death by hanging.
They were charged with a six-count bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, rape and kidnapping.

The prosecution told the court that on October 6, 2021, at Idi Mango Camp, Ilasa Ekiti, the two robbed Taiwo Lawrence Oni and Mohammed Ayomide of their phones and Adejuwon Gbenga of the sum of N31,000.
On same date and place, they kidnapped one Adejuwon Daramola and raped a 19-year-old mother of a five-month-old baby.
The prosecution said they were armed with a cutlass and gun during the operation.
The defendants were later arrested by the vigilantes in the community and they were recognised and identified by their victims.
The prosecutor, Barrister Olasanmi Oluwaseun, called seven witnesses and tendered the defendants’ statements and a cap as exhibits.
The defendants spoke through their counsels, Iyanu Olumuagun and J.O. Olajide, who called one witness.
Justice Olalekan Olatawura, in his judgment, said from the above proven facts, a lone issue for determination was resolved against the defendants.
He said, “I find the defendants guilty on armed robbery,” and subsequently sentenced them to death by hanging.
