7 sentenced in Ekiti for environmental law violation

 A magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has convicted seven people for indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the median.

The violators were tried and found guilty of breaching the environmental laws and faced imprisonment or pay fines of N7,000 each.

The offenders were apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday by officers of the Ekiti State Waste Management Agency at Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Road in Ado-Ekiti.

The magistrate, Mr  Saka Afunso, sentenced the violators – Areo Kolawole, Toba Omolayo, Owolawi Bosede, Ademola Yusuf, Familayo Ajayi, Oluleye Abayomi and Ayodeji Kemi – or to pay fines of N7,000 each.
