Daily Trust, Sunday, emerged as first runner-up in the Best Designed Newspaper category at the 32nd Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME) held in Lagos.
Daily Trust is one of the titles published by Media Trust Group.
The category was won by The Sun Newspaper while This Day emerged second runner-up.
The health editor of Daily Trust newspaper, Ojoma Akor also bagged two nominations.

She was named the first runner-up for the child-friendly reporting category and second runner-up for the health reporting category.
This came a day after the Head of Daily Trust Investigation Desk, Lami Sadiq, emerged as the winner of the print category of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), 2023 award for investigative reporting.
Speaking during the DAME ceremony in Lagos, the Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Publications, Lanre Idowu said the award ceremony is organised yearly to celebrate and appreciate the media.
He said, “We should celebrate the media as an industry, celebrate the people working in it as professionals because they are doing a very important job.”
He said some categories were stepped down this year because the entries could not meet the laid down standards of the DAME prize.
The Nation newspaper was the major winner of the night, clinching the Newspaper of the Year, Editor of the Year and Editorial Writing of the Year.
The founding chairman of This Day/Arise Media Group, Nduka Obaigbena was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award while the duo of Mike Awoyinfa and Emeka Izeze got the honorary fellows.
