Okhuarobo, who disclosed this on Tuesday in a chat with Daily Trust, said the Lassa fever cases spread across 11 LGAs, noting that the four LGAs with the highest burden were Etsako West, Esan West, Esan North East and Esan Central.

He explained that the 15 confirmed cases were spread in the five LGAs of Oredo, Egor, Ikpoba Okha, Uhumwonde and Esan West.

He said response to infectious diseases control in the state was not new, hence that they were taking measures to sustain the response and rid the state of infectious diseases.

Okhuarobo said Gov Godwin Obaseki had given an executive order to the LGAs with high burden of Lassa fever to put machinery in place to ensure that cases were brought to the barest minimum.

The doctor further said that they had been sensitising the people on personal hygiene, housekeeping and good waste management practices, as well as stopping the indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
