The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the September 21 election, Asue Ighodalo, has denied the allegation that he played a part in the impeachment of the former deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.
Recall that Shaibu was impeached by the State House of Assembly on April 8 on the allegation of revealing an official secret and perjury. He had contested the governorship ticket against Ighodalo.
Speaking during a meeting of the PDP Legacy Group at the country home of Dan Orbih, the Vice Chairman (South-South) of the party, Shaibu, alleged that Ighodalo sponsored by the state House of Assembly.
Responding, Ighodalo, in a statement made available to journalists in Benin, described the allegation as fake and said that the claim was cooked up to tarnish his reputation.
