Over 6,000 vulnerable women largely in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camps in Magumeri Local Government Area in northern Borno State have received N5000 cash each accompanied by wrappers as a relief package from the state government to alleviate their plight.
Also, 5,000 men who are heads of households were given a bag of rice and maize grain, and 3 litres of cooking oil each during a distribution exercise supervised by Governor Babagana Zulum yesterday in Gajiganna town, headquarters of the Magumeri local government area.
The governor used the Easter Monday holiday to reach out to the vulnerable citizens faced with humanitarian needs informal camps within the Gajiganna host community.
Governor Zulum also carried out advocacy on coronavirus epidemic to the people calling on them to maintain personal hygiene, ensure social distancing and avoid unnecessary gatherings.
The governor further assessed a closed comprehensive health centre in Gajiganna and directed for its immediate reopening to serve the health needs of the people.
He also assessed a hospital and a primary school destroyed by insurgents in Tungushe town also in Magumeri local government area and directed the immediate rehabilitation of the school and the hospital to serve the residents.
Governor Zulum, while in Gajiganna, paid a morale-boosting visit to the military formation involved in fighting Boko Haram and expressed appreciation to the Nigerian military for their sacrifices and determination to end the insurgency.
