Police in collaboration with vigilantes in Zamfara State have killed at least 10 suspected armed bandits in Hayin Daudu village in Gusau Local Government Area.
The spokesman for the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu said the police tactical operatives deployed to Mada axis in a joint operations with the vigilante group of Hayin Daudu Village and environ in Mada District of Gusau Local Government Area responded to a distress call received from the village around 11 pm on Monday that a large number of armed bandits stormed the location with the intent to attack innocent people.
He said the armed bandits heavily engaged the joint police and vigilante operatives in a gun duel.
He said 10 bandits were neutralised while others escaped with possible gunshot wounds as a result of the encounter, adding that normalcy was restored in the area with confidence building patrol being intensified to forestall further attack on the communities.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Hussaini Rabiu, commended the collaborative efforts of the vigilante and other partners in crime-fighting for their resilience and urged them to sustain the tempo.
