Zuru monarch seeks policies to support women, children

The Emir of Zuru, in Kebbi State, Dr Mohammed Sani Sami Gomo II, has called on political office holders and policy makers to introduce policies and programmes that would support and elevate women and children.

The emir, while speaking during a ceremony organised by Sami HIV/AIDS TRUST in collaboration with National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to mark World HIV/AIDS Day, also charged wealthy individuals to always support the less privileged in the country.

The royal father said there was need for more programs that would assist women with tools to enable them acquire a skill to fend for themselves.

The Emir also distributed empowerment tools to some women during the occasion.

He said Zuru Emirate was in partnership with NAWOJ to empower women and other less privileged in the emirate.

Professor Umar Pate from Bayero University, Kano also urged governments to improve the the health sector to meet the ever increasing need of the people.

A beneficiary, Hadiza Garba while thanking the emir, enjoined other beneficiaries to make good use of the items to improve their living standards.
