The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has solicited support from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) following over 35,000 surrendered Boko Haram/ Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) members, saying the challenges are enormous for the state government.
Zulum who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Usman Jidda Shuwa, at a stakeholders’ forum, said a high-powered committee had been constituted by the state government to come up with input on the extent of physical and psychological trauma inflicted on people of the state.
“We are soliciting for the support from the North East Development Commission to address these huge challenges,” Zulum appealed.
The Managing Director of NEDC, Mohammed Akali, said the essence of having diverse stakeholders was to harness their individual and collective inputs to enrich the North East Stabilisation and Development Master Plan.
He charged stakeholders at the meeting to identify better ways of implementing the plan including funding windows.
