The Borno State government has approved the immediate release of over N70 million for payment of scholarships for 300 orphans of Civilian Joint Tasks Force members who lost their lives as a result of fighting insurgency.
The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Scholarship Board, Malam Bala Isa, made this known in Maiduguri yesterday.
Isa disclosed that the Borno State government would give each of the 300 orphans N200,000 which will cover their tuition fee from primary to secondary school.
He said the governor also purchased a total of 1,878 admissions forms for indigenes across 27 local government areas of the state to study Nursing and Midwifery.

“The programme is aimed at boosting healthcare delivery at the local levels. As people are returning to their ancestral homes, many health issues are coming up, so we want to ensure adequate manpower,” he said.
