Zubair emerges new NRA president

A retired FIFA referee, Sani Zubair, has been elected the new president of Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), taking over from  Tade Azeez.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Zubair was elected in Ilorin on Saturday after he polled 53 votes from the available 54 accredited delegates to beat Daniel Olokor.

NRA’s former Publicity Secretary, Kelechi Mejuobi, was elected the new National Deputy president with 43 votes to beat David Egho who scored 10 votes.

The duo of Emmanuel Imiere and Ibrahim Fagge were elected unopposed as National Vice-President 1 and National Vice-President 2 respectively at the Elective Congress.

Suleiman Omeiza emerged unopposed as the Secretary-General of the association, just as his Deputy, Achikasim Nicholas emerged unopposed.

Fidelis Akinyemi also got elected unopposed into the office of Assistant Secretary-General.

The position of National Treasurer went to Isa Muhammed after being elected unopposed, while Jibril Bancir polled 43 votes to beat Salman Fowomola for the position of National Financial Secretary.

The National Deputy Financial Secretary’s position went to Mohammed Odihili who was also elected unopposed, the way Jumoke Odeniran became the association’s Training Officer.

The National Deputy Training Officer, Shuaibu Shantali was returned unopposed while Chukwudi Ejimofor became the new Publicity Secretary of the association unopposed.

Amuzie Innocent was elected new National Welfare Officer of the body.(NAN)
