The Agora of Zuba in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja, Alhaji Muhammed Bello Umar, Friday, sensitised district and village heads in his chiefdom on the dangers of Lassa fever.
Speaking shortly after he joined Muslim residents of Paso community under his chiefdom to observe the Juma’at prayer, the chief stressed the need for community leaders, village and district heads to always keep their environments tidy and avoid unnecessary contact with rodents.
He said even though it was difficult for people to distance themselves from rodents, they must always ensure clean environment.
He said: “It is obvious that there is no house that one cannot find a rat inside, especially for those of us in rural communities. But we must take steps to avoid contact with rats, as rats can bite you while you are asleep.”
The Agora advised residents of Paso community, especially rural farmers and herders, to continue to live in peace with one another, saying they needed to worship God in peaceful environment.
Also speaking, the district head of Paikon-Kore, complained about the invasion of his community by some unidentified Fulani men who, he said, have resided at the community without his consent.
He said about four settlements were occupied by Fulani migrants, adding that when he enquired from the Fulani chief in the area, the chief told him that he was also not aware of the coming of the herders to reside in the area.
