The 2024 Zenith Bank Ikoyi Club Tennis Grand Slam, which began on May 16 at the elite club, will come to a close today at the prestigious club.

The ninth edition of the annual competition has attracted over 90 tennis players, including the veterans.

The men’s singles was divided into two groups -A and B while the Ladies had only one chart for the singles just as the veterans also featured with ace tennis ‘guru’ Godwin Kienka, being among the finalists.

The chairman, Tennis section, Diran Famakinwa, said this year’s edition has been exciting from the first day of the tournament.

“There has been no dull moment here. It is like witnessing final games every day. The competition is getting better every year and we are so glad about that.

“Our sponsors, Zenith Bank, have been wonderful over the years, and we are very positive that the next edition will be another big spectacle,” Famakinwa said.

Lady Captain of the club, Wemimo Ogunsanya, is also impressed with the standard exhibited by the participants in the tournament.

“We have seen very explosive matches in this edition across all the categories. Players and even our members are having so much fun in this edition,” Ogunsanya said.

The final games take place today with executives of the sponsors, Zenith Bank, and also top officials of Ikoyi Club expected in attendance.
