A former Director, Nigerian Maritime Authority and a prince in the Zazzau Emirate Council, Alhaji Muhammadu Munnir Ja’afaru, has resigned his portfolio as the District Head of Basawa.
A statement issued by Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, Media and Publicity officer of the emirate said the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli had since approved the resignation and subsequently appointed a replacement.
The statement read in part: “Subsequent upon receiving a letter dated July 29, 2023 from Madakin Zazzau, Alhaji Muhammadu Munnir Ja’afaru from the district headship of Basawa District, the Emir of Zazzau, His Highness, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, LLD has with immediate effect approved the appointment of Architect Haruna Abubakar Bamalli, Barfe Kerrariyyan Zazzau, District Head of Zangon Aya as the substantive District Head of Basawa.”

The statement, which did not disclose the reasons for the resignation of the traditional title holder, further contained the movement of some district heads from one district to another.
Efforts to contact the district head who resigned were not successful as he was out of town while his mobile number was switched off.
