Zamfara state government is planning to rehabilitate the famous Sardauna Farms, otherwise known as Gonar Sardauna, as well as Natu lake both in Bakura local government area of the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Aminu Suleiman said the government would not allow good legacies like the Sardauna Farms, which was known to be a centre of attraction established by late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first Premier of the Northern Region, to go to waste.
Dr Suleiman further said that since the farm shared a boundary with the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Bakura it would serve as an avenue for the students to conduct their practical lessons.
At the Natu lake, Dr Suleiman said the visit was to assess the damaged embankment of the lake that allowed the water to drain thereby forcing the community to abandon irrigation farming and fishing.
He promised to ensure new embankment is constructed soonest and advised against vandalizing government property.
