The federal government has issued ‘a final warning’ to all armed bandits in the country and Zamfara in particular to stop their atrocities or be dealt with.
The Interior Minister, Lt. General Abdurrahaman Dambazau, said this on Wednesday during an on-the-spot assessment of the bandits’ activities in the state.
According to him, the federal government is looking at stringent ways to deal with armed banditry which has claimed many lives in Zamfara state in recent times.
“We are issuing a final warning, the bandits must stop their atrocities forthwith because the federal government has devised more stringent ways to deal with them, and I want to assure them that they cannot stand the consequences,” Dambazau said.
He said with his coming to the state, all the stakeholders on security in the state would meet to fine tune the new measures that would be used in tackling the threat.
He advised the bandits to immediately surrender and embrace peace.
He then expressed President Muhammadu Buhari’s condolences to the people of the state saying the administrations would continue to go to any length to protect the lives and properties of the citizens
Responding, the acting governor who is also the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji, lamented that the security situation in the state was getting out of hand and needed the coming together of all in order to address it.
