The national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday appointed Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Garba Rikiji, as chairman of its eight-man committee to conduct primary election for the Osun- west senatorial district by-election.

This was contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Usman-Biyabiki.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed July 8, 2017, for the Osun-west senatorial district by-election, following the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun, inaugurated the committee at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, and charged the members to be  transparent in the discharge of the duty.

He also appealed to APC supporters in Osun State to cooperate with the committee as well as the party for a successful exercise.

The statement said that other members of the committee are; Engr. Tijjani Bukar, Dr. Amajir Gaidam, Mr Ogunewe Independence, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, Alhaji Shehu Nguru and Mr. Christian Ebiyede, while Maj. Gen Charles Airhiavbere would serve as secretary.

The statement further quoted Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji, as saying that the committee would work hard to achieve desired results.

“We are going to conduct this assignment given to us by our great party, the APC, in line with the guidelines to produce a credible candidate for the by-election”, he said.
