The source said one other person was abducted alongside the provost.

“They broke into his residence around 2am and kidnapped him. None of his family members was touched. He was residing in the staff quarters of the secondary school even when he was appointed Provost.”

“He taught in the secondary school for years and became well acquainted with the environment there. Although he recently raised concerns about the security of his residence.

“That prompted his decision to renovate his official residence inside the college and he was scheduled to move to his residence inside the college today but could not make it before he was kidnapped.

“His kidnappers contacted us but but are yet to demand for ransom. We implored them not to torture him. They said they would talk about ransom later,” he said.

The spokesman of the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu, could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
