Police in Zamfara State have recovered eight rifles after they raided a bandits’ enclave near Bayan Ruwa in Maradun Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkanah, who disclosed on Wednesday, said the operation by the tactical operatives followed intelligence received.

“The operatives had an encounter with the hoodlums thereby neutralising many of them while others escaped with possible gunshot wounds.
“In the course of combing/searching the scene, eight (8) AK-47 rifles, one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one rocket launcher, one rocket and five magazines were recovered by the operatives,” he added.
Elkanah also said the team foiled an attack on Rughar Tudu Village when bandits stormed the community and abducted three persons. He said the three kidnapped victims including a 3 month-old baby were rescued.
He said the operatives also recovered 69 cows after a gun battle in Tudun Masu Village in Bungudu Local Government Area of which 60 had been released to their rightful owners.
