The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has announced the outright expulsion of the ex lawmaker representing Gusau/ Tsafe federal constituency, Engr Ibrahim Shehu from the party.
However, Shehu said those claiming to have expelled him were not bonafide executive members of the party.
In a statement signed by the Mayana ward chairman of PDP, Mukhtar Lawali and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the party said Shehu’s expulsion followed a letter of complaint received from members of the party in Mayana ward of Gusau local government area.
He claimed some of the complaints against the lawmaker included; instigating disputes and court cases thereby causing disharmony and disaffection among party members; consistent absentism from activities of the party in the ward local government and the state.
Others are unauthorized publicity against programmes of the party and not being a bonafide member of the party.
“Based on the findings and recommendations of the disciplinary committee, the PDP executive members in Mayana ward accepted the recommendations and expel you from the party with effect from October 15, 2018,” the statement read.
In his reaction to the development, Alhaji Shehu said his expulsion is laughable and illegal and a clear sign that those who made the announcement were frustrated.
Shehu who spoke through his former campaign director Alhaji Nasiru Milo, said those who expelled him were not even bonafide executive members of the party, adding that very soon the court will wrestle the leadership of the party from them.
