The chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Zamfara state  Ibrahim Mallaha Gusau is dead, the Director General Public Enlightenment, Media and Communication in the state’s government house Yusuf Idris Gusau told Daily Trust.

He said the late party chairman died at the age of 59 in a hospital in Germany after he suffered a cardiac problem adding that he was undergoing a kidney dialysis when he was pronounced dead by a team of medical doctors.

“Ten years ago, ago he travelled to India for a treatment for cardiac illness and this time around he went for medical attention in Germany after he fell sick,” Yusuf said.

He was the deputy chairman of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) and substantive chairman of the party during the administrations of former governor Ahmad Sani Yarima and Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi respectively.

After former governor Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi defected to the Peoples Democratic Party from the then ANPP, Alhaji Mallaha was PDP’s chairman. Shortly before the 2019 elections he bounced back as PDP’s chairman again.

He is survived by four wives, children and grand children. His funeral arrangement will soon be announced upon the conveyance of his remains from Germany.
