Zamfara: INEC holds re-run in 19 polling stations today

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is holding re-run elections in 19 polling units in Kware and Kurya wards of Shinkafi local government area of Zamfara State.

Last week, more than 60 persons were killed, following two deadly attacks by suspected armed bandits on Kware ward in the local government.

The Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity of the Commission, Garba Galadima told Daily Trust that the election was rescheduled to Sunday on the advice of security operatives in the state.

“There are 10 polling units in Kware and 9 in Kurya ward. Kurya ward has 11 polling stations and election were held in two of them yesterday. The security operatives will provide adequate cover for the rerun to hold,” he said.
