Zamfara: Governor Matawalle swears in new SSG, orders ministries to take over salary payments

Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara State has sworn in Alhaji Bello Bala Maru as the new Secretary to the State Government, SSG, saying ministries would now take charge of workers’ salary payments.

Matawalle said he took the decision to take away the payments from the ministry of finance in order to bring about some semblance of probity and accountability into the civil service.

“Workers welfare would be taken care of and we expect them to put in their best, inject their wealth of experience into the service for the betterment of their people and erring civil servants will be sanctioned,” he said.

Matawalle further explained that farmers would soon return to their farmlands as efforts were being made to make sure that communities are protected.

He then charged the new SSG to bring about necessary positive changes in the state civil service, adding that he would appoint people in his administration across party devides in as long as the person is capable of playing good role in the government.
