The vice chairman of Shinkafi local government area of Zamfara state, Alhaji Sani Galadima, said records had shown that over ninety eight towns and villages had been sacked by the armed bandits in the council area.
The council’s Vice Chairman stated this while receiving the minister of Interior, Lt. General Abdurraham Dambazzau, who was on an assessment visit to Shinkafi local government area.
According to him, the presence of the military and other security agencies had not helped matters as they had not been responding to distress calls.
He called for more commitment from the authorities to tackle the menace adding that if allow unchecked the bandits would soon over ran many towns and cities.
In his submission, the minister of Interior, Abdurrahaman Dambazzau, said banditry activities in the state had been a source of concern to the federal government.
Dambazzau said that President Muhammadu Buhari had already directed security agencies to find ways to end banditry activities.
The minister used the opportunity to condole the people of the state over the banditry activities.
Earlier, residents of Shinkafi local government area in Zamfara state had cried out rampant killings and abduction of people by armed bandits as six civilian JTF were killed in a fresh attack.
