The candidate for the All Progressives Congress representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency, Alhaji Abdulmalik Zubairu, has retained his seat by scoring 37,689 votes.
The re-elected federal lawmaker defeated his major opponents from PDP, Alhaji Shehu Ahmad who polled 17,062; Sani Bello of Accord Party who got 12,647; NRM’s Alhaji Shehu Ahmad; and NRM’s Bala Muhammad Dansadau who garnered 5,849.
Announcing the result, the Returning Officer for Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency Election, Dr. Aliyu Moyi Kaura Namoda, said in the election which was duly contested and conducted, “Alhaji Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu, having satisfied all the requirements and has the highest number of votes in the election is declared winner.”
He appreciated the level of maturity and understanding exhibited by representatives of political parties during the process of collating the results.
Abdulmalik Zubairu was first elected as federal lawmaker in 2015 when he defeated the then incumbent in the party primaries.
Speaking shortly after the results declaration, the re-elected federal lawmaker, Alhaji Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu, thanked Allah, SWT, for giving him victory.
He said he would focus on insecurity issue which has remained a challenge to the socio-economic and political development in his constituency.
He appreciated the turnout of the electorate during the election and solicited for more prayers from them for him to succeed.
