“It is natural for any matured girl like me to dream of getting married and therefore, it is one of my dreams but even after getting married, I don’t hope to quit the film industry.”

It has been a practice that actresses in Kannywood tend to quit the industry after their marriage but the star actress believes her passion for the industry is undying and hence, the need to continue behind the screen.

“My plan is to get married any time from now – even though I have not made up my mind on the guy to marry among the very many suitors yet. Anyone I’m marrying must understand and appreciate me as an actress and at the same time be ready to support me in my career. It’s not necessary that I continue as an actress but can still be part of it as a producer and I am presently working on [a] mission. My dream is to produce the best films ever and to take the industry to greater heights,” she said.

Speaking on the prevalence of marital strife and the high divorce rates experienced by Hausa film actresses, Zainab said she is optimistic her marriage, when it finally comes, will be an everlasting one.

“I don’t blame the divorcee actresses for their misfortune but one thing I know is as a woman, one must ensure that her marriage succeeds and this can only be achieved with determination to keep the marriage and the readiness to abide by certain fundamental marital requirements. As an actress, I think I have gathered enough experience to guide me in handling my marriage and that I will do with all my heart. It’s high time we show the world that film actresses are not wayward as it is often assumed and we also have to prove that we too can be successfully married. Presently, I have counselled a lot of women on their marriages and Alhamdulillah my advice works for them so I feel I can make it,” she said.
