Adamawa governor Ahmadu Fintiri has described the killing of dozens of farmers in Zabarmari as an “unacceptable situation” following a security meeting in Yola.
The killing came after governors in the region met in Yola in talks of common interest to states in the region, including insecurity.
In a condolence message to the government and people of Borno, Fintiri said it was regrettable for fellow Governor Babagana Zulum to depart from the meeting and be confronted with the massacre.
“This is a tragic incident, a sad and tragic period for the North East region,” Fintiri said in a statement.
He said security planners “had failed to come up with a solution or a strategy to prevent such unprovoked attacks.
He noted the “risks faced by Borno People have increased as the areas of the state have become less stable”.
“It is tough for Governor Zulum, and for the families, this is early part of a new reality without their loved ones.”
