The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, Prof Mustapha Ahmad Isa, has handed over the mantle of leadership of the institution to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Academics, Prof Aliyu Musa, as acting Vice-Chancellor.

In a  statement signed by the Head, Information, Publications and Public Relations Unit of the university, Abdullahi Abba Hassan, the handing over marked the end of Prof Isa’s five-year tenure as the VC of the institution.

“I wish to hand over the academic and administrative leadership of the University to the DVC Academics, Prof Aliyu Musa, pending the appointment of the next substantive vice-chancellor”, Prof Isa said.

The outgoing VC highlighted some of his major accomplishments during his five-year tenure, which included additional admission slots, accreditation of academic programmes, Tetfund high impact and other interventions, establishment of the College of Health Sciences, Magwan, and the University Teaching Hospital, Nassarawa, among other projects.

He enjoined the staff, students and entire university community to extend the support and cooperation given to him during his tenure to the acting VC with a view to moving the university forward.

He thanked the Kano State Government, Governing Council, Senate and the entire University community for the support given to him in discharging his duties.

In his acceptance speech, the acting VC, Prof Musa, pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him, assuring the community of his readiness to continue from where the outgoing vice-chancellor stopped.
