The Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Police said it has deployed 3,000 personnel to various locations across the state to provide security for citizens during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Usman Abdullahi Jada disclosed this during an interview with our reporter in Jalingo.
He said the commissioner of police, CP Abimbola Sokoya has mandated his deputy in charge of operations to act and ensure that people celebrate Christmas and the New year peacefully in the state.
He explained that a circular had already been sent to all divisions across the state to ensure they provide adequate security at the Churches and other places for a successful celebration.
In the same vein, the Edo Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has deployed 1,800 personnel to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
The NSCDC State Commander who disclosed this said the deployment was to prevent crime and ensure hitch free Christmas and New Year celebration in the state.
He said the operatives were deployed to crowded places such as markets, recreational centres and places of worship.
According to him, the operatives were drawn from operation, counter terrorism, disaster management, vandalism, chemical, biological radiology and nuclear units.
He advised the youths to eschew all forms of violence and unwholesome acts that would jeopardise a peaceful Christmas celebration.
