The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Commandant, Dr Peter Maigari, has deployed 3000 personnel for the yuletide season.

He stated that this was done with the sole aim of providing the needed security for government critical assets and residents of the FCT and its environs during this Christmas and New year season.

He further said this is not unconnected with the mandate given by the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Audi (mni), to ensure safety and also in synergy with other sister agencies.

In a press statement signed by Comfort Okomanyi, the FCT command’s spokesperson, Commandant Maigari said; “safety remains significant and a major priority of the FCT Command and the NSCDC as s whole.”

He assured that the Corps will not relent in her effort to ensure that the government’s assets are protected from vandalism across the FCT.

Commandant Maigari disclosed that a 21-year jail term without the option of a fine awaits anyone caught in the act of vandalizing the government’s assets.

He encouraged residents of the FCT to maintain peace and order during the yuletide season, exercise caution while celebrating, be vigilant and report any act of criminality or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities for further actions as well as comply strictly with the COVID-19 protocols of the federal government.
