The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has urged marketers of petroleum products to desist from creating artificial scarcity during the coming yuletide season.
The DPR Field Controller in Gombe, Abdullahi Abawa, gave the warning during an interaction session with the major and independent petroleum marketers on Thursday in Gombe.
He said the state has enough products in the depot and therefore cautioned them against diverting or adjusting their engine to sell the product above the government-regulated price of N145 per litre.
Abawa said the DPR will launch a serious surveillance team to monitor the activities of the marketers, adding that anyone found wanting would face the law.
The controller added that DPR officials will be going round the filing stations for surveillance to ensure that the marketers are not hording the fuel.
He also called on the general public to assist DPR with reliable information to help them avoid fuel scarcity especially during the yuletide.
The marketers on their part have assured their readiness to cooperate with the DPR to ensure adequate supply of petroleum products.
