The Nigerian youth have been advised to shun drugs consumption, abuse but should embrace sports to be famous, self-reliant, fly Nigeria’s flag and become role models.
National President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria, (KFN) Mr. Silas Ali Agara made the appeal in Nasarawa State.
He said that, “It is high time for parents and guardians to entice their kids and wards to embrace sports to be fit and have brighter future than to engage in the illicit act of drugs abuse.
“The youth should understand that drugs abuse leads to health related issues, like mental retardation amongst others.
“It is better to choose sports, make friends, be a sports ambassador, sign big contracts from clubs and endorsements and be a role model instead of having mental retardation and be a prisoner.” He said.
Agarra said sensitising the youth to choose sports and shun drugs is the responsibility of every good citizen in the mainstream and social media alike.
He said it is interesting to have teenagers and youth representing their schools, local governments, state and even the country at various sporting events.
