Youths in  Umuayom village Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State have protested the beating to death of their colleague by security agents allegedly on the orders of his father.

The youths in the community had gone on rampage, making bonfire in protest of the father’s complicity over the death of his only son, identified as Chibuzo.

Daily Trust gathered that the deceased had brought in a lady said to be older than him as his would-be wife, a decision his father did not consent to.

The source said the deceased, who had earlier married and had a child but later separated from the mother of the child, was disappointed by his father’s disapproval to the marriage.

“As the rift between the man and his father escalated, the father invited men in uniform. The man, out of annoyance, poured hot water on his father, which resulted to his being beaten up by the police operatives the father called, following which he was rushed to the hospital where he died.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Princess Nkeiruka Nwode, said it took the intervention of the police deployed to the scene to restore calm.
