The Arewa Youths Integrity Forum (AYIF) has warned against the politicization and introduction of ethnicity into the issues around the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt- Gen. Tukur Buratai, saying it could jeopardize efforts against the Boko Haram insurgency.
The National President of the forum, Ibrahim Abubakar, said yesterday in Abuja that politicians should stop the attacks on Buratai, especially since he had satisfactorily explained the property owned by his family in Dubai in addition to the federal government clearing him of any wrongdoing.
He expressed concern about comments that accompany stories over the property ownership, noting that inflamed comments were being used as example for arguments by terrorists’ recruiters simply because a lot of hate speeches were passed off as comments.
“Those who are not satisfied with the federal government’s decision on the Dubai property, which were legitimately acquired and properly declared in conformity with the Code of Conduct requirement, should explore legal options instead of hiding under it to do the bidding of terrorists,” Abubakar said.
