Youths digging graves for human parts arrested in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command yesterday paraded three suspects found in possession of a human head.

The suspects, Yale Saleh (27), Baba Muhammadu (24) and Aminu Salisu (22), all of Dinawa village in Kwami Local Government Area, were paraded at the command’s headquarters over criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of human head.

The commissioner of police, Ishola Babaita, said the police, through credible information, arrested the trio with the fresh human head on March 30.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the three dug a grave in the night and cut off the head of a male deceased (name withheld) who was buried on Monday morning at the Dinawa village cemetery.

According to him, the suspects confessed to have earlier dug the grave of a woman at the same Dinawa village cemetery and cut off her head.

CP Babaita added that effort was on top gear to recover the second head.

Also, one Aliyu Musa Nagangarawa (20) of Daban Magarya village in Balanga LGA of the state was arrested after he killed his cousin with a knife after a misunderstanding.

Babaita said the suspect was arrested by the police in Balanga on March 23, after he stabbed his cousin, Dahiru Mukhtar, with a knife on his neck following a misunderstanding over a trousers.

The CP added that the suspect had confessed to the crime.

Meanwhile, 12 others were also paraded over different crimes ranging from rape, theft, criminal conspiracy to possession of illegal arms and house breaking.

Two of the suspects, Mela Ya’u (32) and Josiah Sambo (18), all of Pobawure village of Billiri LGA, were arrested over conspiracy and injuring officials of the NDLEA and damaging their vehicle when they went to the village to arrest drug dealers.
