Youths in Moro Local Government Council of Kwara State have demanded the immediate separation of the community from IlorIn Emirate.
The youths under the aegis of League of Moro Youth Liberationists (LMYL) faulted the situation where Moro local government, that is in Kwara North, was forced to be under Ilorin Emirate that is in Kwara Central.
The youths made the demand in a communique issued and signed by its Chairman, Kolawole Pascal and Secretary, Sodiq Makanjula respectively at the end of the League’s inaugural meeting.
They also questioned the rationale behind the deduction of five percent of the local government monthly federal allocation, which is being given to Ilorin Emirate.
This, they said, negate the rights of the people of the council to their statutory fund from the federation account.
“We condemned the physical stunting of development and progress in the council while, by sinister arrangement, Moro local government never benefited from rightful appointments in the state neither were we considered for federal appointments”, they said.
They bemoaned non grading of their traditional rulers, which could qualify them to get the five percent being deducted from the federal allocation.
The youths recalled that their monarchs were downgraded in 1983 and 2002.
