Youth shut oil firms over bad roads, neglect

Operations of four oil companies in Egbema in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State have been disrupted following protests by aggrieved citizens over neglect by the companies.

The affected oil firms, Starling Global Oil Resources, Nigerian Petroleum  Development Company (NPDC), Addaxx Oil and Watersmith Petroman, were shut down following the protests  by the youths of the town on Thursday and Friday.

The protesters, led by Okenya Thaddeus, claimed that they carried out the action due to alleged neglect, destruction of the community roads by trucks belonging to the companies and refusal of the company to employ their members.
